London, UK, Sept 2nd, 2008 ---- NEC Corporation announced today that it has received the WiMAX Forum Certified(tm) seal of approval for its base
station and PC card, part of NEC's comprehensive 2.5GHz WiMAX product portfolio.

Each newly certified product has faced a stringent suite of interoperability tests, which the WiMAX Forum sets out to ensure that different vendor systems work seamlessly with one another.

This certification follows a long history of global WiMAX(tm) successes for NEC. Notably, in June of this year, NEC became the first
manufacturer to be certified through the WiMAX Forum Designated Certification Lab in Taiwan.

"Certification of this key NEC portfolio component validates the company's long term commitment to WiMAX and its larger role in smoothly
delivering mobile and wireless data networks on a global scale," said Dr. Nobuhiro Endo, Associate Senior Vice President of NEC. "NEC's
exceptional achievements include implementation of MIMO Matrix B; an antenna technology which allows operators to double throughput to their
customers when compared to existing WIMAX performance."

As a market leader in WiMAX(tm) development, and one of the first manufacturers to receive 2.5GHz certification, NEC aims to become one of
the foremost suppliers of WiMAX networks throughout the world.

"WiMAX Forum certification brings us one step closer towards NEC's vision of a ubiquitous data network. Our success also sends an extremely
positive message about WiMAX's future to those seeking evidence of the technology's growing maturity." Said Richard Hanscott, Vice President,
NEC Europe .

NEC's WiMAX portfolio supports all of the Mobile WiMAX(tm) elements that make it the wireless technology of choice for next generation networks,
including high speed data access, VoIP and mobile services.
